Subterranean Treasure, 2023

I made this quilt in September 2023, after going metal detecting, reflecting on the multitudinous differently toned beeps, which indicated everything from tin to the tantalisingly titled ‘rings’. In reality the majority of the beeps seemed to lead to underground pipework.

Green velvet secondhand curtains, wool blankets (pale pink, bright pink, mint) given away by a neighbour who was moving, handpainted and batiked calico, another appearance from the orange velvet curtains.
